This unit is responsible for collaborating with the institutional mission to engage with the community by informing the university community, as well as regional, national, and international audiences, about the most notable actions taken by the institution in academic, scientific, political, and community spheres, through both internal and external communication channels and social media. It will also communicate the opinions and actions of university authorities and support internal communication for the Human Resources unit.
External Communication Protocol
- Identify the communication priorities of the University of Magallanes.
- Identify the communication priorities of the Rectory, maintaining constant information and relationships with university units and the Director of the Cabinet.
- Plan short-, medium-, and long-term communication actions based on coordination with various community engagement units and the current need for dissemination, informed by assessments and the Rectory’s political priorities.
- Coordinate the execution of these plans, fulfilling the role of journalistic editing for university television and the Media Area, as well as providing communication support to the Human Resources unit.
- Promote a unified system for tracking indicators and disseminate this information periodically in meetings and electronically to management.
Radio and Television: Its role is to disseminate knowledge and the mission of the University of Magallanes by engaging with the local, national, and global community, providing information that contributes to sustainable community development. This is done through radio and audiovisual products created by communication professionals who believe in entertaining while educating all generations, showcasing knowledge generated by the institution, university activities, and regional identity.
Media: This area supplies content to the university’s online platforms—website, social media, and various blogs—serving public information coverage and outreach. The same information is provided to both national and international media.
Internal Communication: Its role is to support the institution in defining and disseminating relevant information for members of the university community, including staff, foundational stakeholders, and students. It also assists the Rectory in communicating with both internal and external public opinion.
