Purposes and Objectives

The fundamental objective of the Administration of the Solidarity University Credit Fund at the University of Magallanes is to efficiently manage the financial resources of the Solidarity University Credit Fund to finance loans granted by the University to students facing socioeconomic difficulties and demonstrating good academic performance. This support allows them to pay all or part of their tuition and fees for undergraduate programs. Additionally, it must manage the resources generated from the recovery of loans from alumni of the University, who contribute to financing the Fund as they repay their debts over time, thereby benefiting new undergraduate students in accessing higher education.

The Fund Administration must:

  • Efficiently and effectively manage the available resources.
  • Undertake all possible actions and implement policies to optimize the collection of alumni loans, with appropriate oversight from the Rectory.
  • Be readily available to alumni for advising, clarifying, facilitating, and resolving any inquiries or situations they may have, while ensuring compliance with current legal provisions.
  • Implement necessary mechanisms to ensure efficient management.
  • Maintain a reliable and up-to-date database to support collections and generate management reports.
  • Retain the same tax exemptions applicable to the University of Magallanes.
  • Operate as an autonomous administration.
  • Safeguard the assets of the Fund.
