The Vice-Rector’s Office for Community Engagement at the University of Magallanes invites you to participate in the Scenic Language Workshop, conducted by actor Alejandro Pardo. This workshop will continue the one held between July and August 2023, titled “Entering the Rite of Representation: Body Dramaturgy,” which concluded with a collective performance in the Plaza de Armas of Punta Arenas.
Entering a new creation process, there will be a theoretical space where work will be done with great exponents like Bertolt Brecht and Pina Bausch, on “The Word That Moves.” This will create an experimental space on the correspondence between body and word in their different expressive fields, articulating fundamental aspects of scenic language: body-movement-voice-word-sensitive memory-rite and representation at the service of performative creation. The workshop will start on July 23rd and will continue until August 23rd, with two weekly sessions held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 PM to 9:30 PM.
Alejandro Pardo Ulloa is an actor and musician born in Punta Arenas. He studied at the “Yugoslavia” School (now “Croatia”) and the “José Menéndez” Commercial High School. He currently resides in Florence, Italy, where he works as a teacher. “I have a dual ‘formation and militancy’ in life in music and theater. I have managed to complement the different formative experiences, and my goal is to value and enhance the resources and cultural human heritage of the people and groups I work with, with an integrative and inclusive approach. My interest lies in the equation body/movement/sound, which makes the synergy of various forms of original expression possible. Today, I am interested in inhabiting and exploring the theater/dance border,” he declares.
This initiative is organized by the Arts, Cultures, and Heritage Department of UMAG. To register for this workshop, please contact nmayorga@umag.cl
