The Comptroller’s Office of the University of Magallanes is the body responsible for exercising and maintaining control to ensure the legality of the actions of the Corporation’s authorities; overseeing the income, use, and destination of its funds; examining the accounts of individuals responsible for its assets; and ensuring the proper application of the norms, procedures, regulations, and instructions governing the University’s activities.
Since 2009, the Comptroller has been appointed by the Board of Directors, ‘who is the official responsible for ensuring the legality of the actions of the University’s authorities, overseeing the income or use of funds, examining the accounts of individuals responsible for its assets, and exercising other related functions as specified by the ordinance issued by the Board of Directors, without prejudice to the powers that according to the laws correspond to the General Comptroller’s Office of the Republic. The Comptroller will be appointed by the Board of Directors and will cease to perform their duties due to resignation, death, or removal’ (Article 12, Statute of the University of Magallanes, D.F.L. No. 154 – December 11, 1981).
