“Grey: The Ice Path” is the title of the five-episode documentary series that showcases the work of an international group of young researchers and their professors on the Grey Glacier in Torres del Paine National Park last November. The general context of this scientific initiative is the Patagonian Ice Field Research Program (PIRP), now in its fourth year of fieldwork. The program is led by the renowned mountaineer, explorer, and researcher at the GAIA Antarctic Research Center of the University of Magallanes (CIGA-UMAG), Camilo Rada Giacaman, with the support of Natalia Martínez.

The expedition included students from the United States, Switzerland, Argentina, Colombia, and Chile. From the University of Magallanes (UMAG), Catalina Fernández, Gonzalo Bertolotto, and Fernando Fritz participated—all students of the Master’s in Antarctic Sciences with a specialization in Glaciology offered by the university.

According to the series’ producer, “the series shows the logistical efforts required to reach the study area, which was in the western part of the glacier, as well as the essential educational activities to gather information and study the behavior of ancient ice in the face of climate change affecting our planet.”

The series will air every Sunday at 8:00 PM starting this July 28th.
